Cynthia L. Jett began her journey with Durham County Teen Court and Restitution Program in February of 2011. Ms. Jett came to the program from Granville County Teen Court and was very familiar with the Teen Court process. She bought new ideas and a passion for serving youth. Ms. Jett was a dedicated employee who loved her job and the kids she served. Even though she struggled with health challenges, she always pushed forward and maintained a heart of servitude. She put her heart and soul into working with our families and went above and beyond the call of duty. Over the years, Ms. Jett began utilizing college interns to assist her with program activities and duties. She trained these interns thoroughly and they left knowing all aspects of the programs processes and procedures. Additionally, Ms. Jett formed a very close bond with our program volunteers, court personnel, local law enforcement and community partners. She set up fundraisers and social activities that allowed everyone to participate. The annual Teen Court summit is always a major event for our program and volunteers , Ms. Jett made sure all the youth were prepared and trained thoroughly. She even purchased matching accessories with her personal funds so our team always looked the part. She provided a Teen Court training each summer to the youth of the G.R.E.A.T summer camp, which is a camp sponsored by the Durham Police Department for at-risk youth. Ms. Cynthia L. Jett has touched the lives of so many youth and families in the Durham community. Her passion and dedication over the years has been priceless. The impact she has made on Durham County Teen Court and Restitution Program will always be remembered and cherished and she will forever remain in our hearts.
